❗️Important!: 1p Challenge Test Board. Info & feedback
This is a test board. Feel free to add test threads but note that threads may be removed and functionality can change!
Hi everyone,
With tables available in our new editor, we thought we'd try our something to help members with the 1p challenge.
When you create a new thread on this board, it will be pre-filled with tables for each month. You can edit your post and strikethrough (cross out) amounts to keep track. A progress bar at the top will keep track.
This is an early test. Please give your feedback below

Hi Stephen
This looks great to me. Presumably we all just use our user names so I then no longer need to set up a spreadsheet and allocate numbers and updates are done automatically?

Hi
I'm very much leaving it as open as a thing for the community of 1p challenge members to think about. The template that's automatically created when you first create a thread on this board can be modified to leave a space for a number if users still want to have one and do things that way.

I like the progress amount and the ability to cross out the days individually. As I run the thread and you do not seem to have had much feedback from anyone else I am going to make a unilateral decision to do this for next year.
Maybe you can advise nearer the time as to how I set it up. I don't think we will bother with numbers just user names. Will it still appear in the DFW challenges section of the forum? How would I insert the template? Or would you set up the challenge instead? If so do you need any input from me?

Hiya
We can set up a template by board, as it's set up on this test board. When you create any new thread here it automatically adds the template.
If you click 'Create New' from the red button, it automatically adds the template to your opening post. (You can even just use the link: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/post/discussion/1p-challenge )
Only one template can be used per board. So if there's demand for variations of the 1p challenge, such as the reverse version, those would have to be provided separately to be manually pasted in to your opening post, or if there's really demand it would have to be set up as a separate board.Join the MSE Forum

I am sorry but that sounds confusing.
Do I still set up the thread in DFW challenges?

(I've moved these posts to the feedback thread).
Sorry if it sounds confusing!
One possibility might be to create a thread as normal on DFW, saying something like…
Welcome to the 1p challenge
{Some text about the idea and history}
To start your own thread tracking your progress, simply click this button* to create your own thread on the 1p Challenge Board.
When you click the button, this will pre-fill your post with your 1p challenge calendar. When you cross out an amount it will be added to your total. You can come back to your thread any time to update your progress {link here to some tips about editing your post}* You can also navigate to the the 1p Challenge Board and click 'Create New' to start your thread.
That's a quick draft off the top of my head. With tweaking does that sound straightforward enough?
With the new tools coming later this year, we might have even more tools to guide a member though things.Join the MSE Forum
