Possible that my phone has been compromised somehow?

Samsung Galaxy S24+

I know that for whatever reason, apps occasionally 'kick you out' - where beforehand you could access the app via biometrics but today you need to put in your password kind of thing.

Just now gone to do the monthly banking & couldn't access RBoS. It wanted my passcode instead of my fingerprint.

I'm fairly sure I entered the code correct but I guess I didn't. It didn't accept attempt 1 anyway so I try again & it just spins & spins, doesn't let me in.

I go to HSBC - also wants my code, no fingerprint. Put in the code & no go.

I go to Chase - ALSO wants my code, no biometrics. I put the code in & get hit with a 'Biometric login is currently unavailable' message.

Bit weird that 3 out of 3 wont accept biometrics.

Have you done an update of the phone software recently? My pixel did this on a couple of the apps after one a while ago, switching off the biometrics for some reason.

It's probably an update issue, but have you been doing DIY over the weekend? I stopped using fingerprint access because everytime I do any sanding or even have soggy hands for a few hours I lost finger print access

Another reason have invalidated all logins is if a new fingerprint is added to the fingerprint list

Can the OP login to the various services using normal password via online web access on a regular laptop/pc?

That would at least offer some security around breach of banking password and also isolate the issue to the phone device/app.

    I think you've sussed it.

It did a software update over the weekend. 300mb or so. I wasn't aware this erased/reset/turned off biometrics but I am now.

As for restart - my phone is set to auto restart every Sunday at 3am.

Given it was 3 different banks it was guaranteed it was the biometrics on the phone not working (as confirmed since your post).

OK a little bit further with this one -

I've logged in to most of the banks just fine with my pass code except for RBoS & Ulster, they just spin & spin except my wife can log in to her RBoS just fine.

On top of that I had to enter my PIN for Bit warden but when I go to settings & see biometrics has been turned off..... It won't let me turn it back on.

Says an error has occurred. Try again or contact us.

I'll try asking here first before I do that but what's going on with my biometrics? Why will it not let me reactivate it?

Are you talking about turning on biometrics within Bitwarden or on the phone itself, the two are not connected. I use Bitwarden and have it turned off as it's more secure using your 4 digit pin and letting the App fill in your other log in pages.

I'm talking about opening the app on the phone, going in to biometrics in settings & turning them on.
