Thanks, Boxt provide a 10 year warranty with this model. Along with the usual caveats, and requirement to maintain the annual service schedule (which is a given, anyway).

It's a repeated debate point, but the simple scientific fact is, the higher you have the inside temp, and for longer, the more it'll cost.

But, each person needs to balance potential savings against their personal requirements, so if that is 'warm', then warm it needs to be.

Your new boiler will undoubtedly be more efficient in any case, and - yes - a lot quieter.

Your old boiler was likely more noisy from birth, but the main noise-generating part, the burner fan, is very likely to also have wear which will greatly add to this. I think you'll be happy with the 4000.

I agree, but the OP has only a one bed flat. If it is reasonably well insulated/surrounded by other flats, then heat loss will should not be that high.

If it was a draughty older bigger house then keeping it at above 20 degrees 24/7 , would be very expensive.

This was installed yesterday. To be honest I have absolutely no idea what is reasonable and what isn't. As everyone knows, it was quite warm yesterday so I was empathetic to the engineer as a default, and put no pressure on. However it felt like he was in a big rush from the start, and was done by about 2pm (arrived just before 8).

I was fully expecting some snagging, but it is different to how it would be in my mind's eye. Especially the burns on the plaster. He said that it wouldn't be straight forward as soon as he saw the original set up (as if all of the pictures I created for Boxt during the order were not shared with the actual engineer), and that it will be even harder for the next time! Was looking for second opinions. There is also a fair clean up to do (Boxt state they would do that, he had a vacuum cleaner in his van but didn't use it), but I am putting the deep clean off for cooler times ha.

Hard worker (non stop), I hugely respect practical workers (beyond my capabilities) and not looking to put grief on him. Just questioning whether it is a bodge I guess, or within tolerance.

Do you have a snap of the old boiler in situ?

Where did they put the filter for the boiler?

I don't honestly think you have much to complain about there. There's a limit to what a GasSafe can be expected to do, and to sand down any filler to perfection, and to give it a lick of paint, is beyond that.

Are you DIYish enough to paint? And do you have the wall colour? If so, sanding down around the pipes and flue and then painting is straightforward stuff. A Decorator shouldn't charge much for this if needed.

I'd get pipe collars to go around these pipes to finish them off, just as he's used for the flue. I presume he sealed around the flue first so there's no draught?

The top part looks airtight to me.

I will be trying to get a professional decorator to come and tidy it all up for me!

My sense is that it's fine, I think maybe it's jarring as the original was so tidy in comparison. However, disruption was inevitable given that the new model is materially shorter and narrower, and with new technology (I am using the free mini Hive).

The best news is that it is extremely quiet 😎

I'm guessing that the wall around the pipes on the original boiler wasn't finished off by the GasSafe either!

Tbh, that's a pretty good job, as he'd have very little room to play with; how he got so many pipes to go straight up vertically beats me.

The filter is obviously a bit of an eyesore, but was an essential part of the installation.

Once filled and painted, it'll look better than the original, with the pipes being straight.

Where on earth do these pipes go to?!

The Hive Mini is a cutie, but I presume you have it running on an App as well?

If not, it's very awkward to set. With the App, it's terrific.
