Combi Boiler swap
I had my gas boiler from new, as it came with my new build in 2010.
I am planning to head off a total fail, and after 15/16 years of use it is now quite noisy and has needed repairs over each of the last three years. I am however due a service that I have paid for within a few weeks. So I feel like it will be a good time to have a new one installed before the winter. Property is essentially 1 bed flat, 5 rads and very well insulated property.
Priority is quiet operation as my living room and kitchen are combined, and the boiler is sited in the kitchen part! I don't mind paying a modest premium if a more expensive one is tangibly quieter!
I ran the details through a supplier website, the suggested option that seemed decent:
Current: Potterton Promax Combi He Plus
Proposed: Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 25kw
Seemingly Boxt will supply and do all the fitting necessary.
I know absolutely nothing about boilers. I watched a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 review on youtube, from unpacking etc. The key difference I noticed was that the big 4inch? pipe on the WB seemed to exit directly out of the back/middle, whereas mine has a pipe at the top a bit like a periscope, it goes out of the top first and then out through the wall.
Key questions are is this likely to be a suitable choice, will it be a direct swap, and do you just get the flue options that are appropriate. Common sense really, I wouldn't want to need a new hole made and have to somehow fill in the original one. Or do I need to find a new boiler that has the same design (the periscope style flue)?
Thanks !

I'm sure you'll find the 4000 to be perfectly suitable with its flue options.

Thank you, that's good!
Sorry, another dumbo question if you don't mind. The proposed new boiler is 5 mm narrower and around 40 mm shorter. Narrower I suspect will leave some need to make good on newly exposed wall, especially where the existing brackets are, not the end of the world. However obviously the flue exit hole is fixed and the pipes/holes going exiting under the bottom are also fixed. Is this something that fitting engineers are used to handling, and can easily adjust for? I'm assuming so, as Boxt don't appear to need the existing dimensions to provide options, but I'd like to make sure before pulling the trigger.

You may or may not be aware, but your new boiler ( assuming you go ahead) will come with more advanced options in terms of using wifi connections rather than wires to connect the thermostat for example.
I presume the installer will set it up for you, but maybe worth doing a bit more research beforehand about these new functions. I do not know that much about them but plenty of posters on here that do.

Thanks. On the site it states that an ESi programmable room thermostat is included. One of the easiest to use thermostats on the market, providing 4 or 6 time and temperature events each day. Comes with stand.
This is what the existing one looks like, on a different wall to the boiler with no visible wiring. I don't need any funky functions as I am alas practically housebound for the foreseeable.

On the front end they also have a current promo offer ~ Plus, get a free Hive Thermostat Mini with code FREEHIVEMINI**

Your existing thermostat on the wall, will be connected by wires to the boiler ( the connection is behind the thermostat so you do not see it).
A new portable one gives you more flexibility as to where to locate it.

Yes it's definitely another consideration.

I see at the moment they are offering 1 year interest free, you could try your luck and phone them to see if they will do 24 months interest free.
Might work with it being Easter weekend.

Thanks! I'm living in a bit of a topsy turvy world at the moment, and it actually suits me to pay upfront. Though possibly it might still be viable, if I can settle interest and fee free any time.

why don’t you get quotes from local gas engineers, they will come and measure up and explain your best options
Imo best to have a local guy, who will come out hopefully same day if you have a fault. Boxt use sub contractors to install.
A thankyou is payment enough .0
