Electric blanket
Can anyone recommend a good quality electric blanket for winter? I predicting quadruple energy costs by the time my fix ends in October, so will have to follow Martin's advice of heating the human. I suspect they will be in short supply in a few months. Thanks.

Depends on the type you want/need. There are heated Throws, as well as electric blankets for beds in single, double, even king size. With double there's some with a single control (same heat both sides) or dual control with individual heat each side.
There are so many, have a look on the TV Shopping channels' websites (Ideal World, TJC, QVC, ITV's shopontv.co.uk etc to see the types that are around and the range of prices. You could even look on places like Amazon and eBay BUT I would always choose a UK seller to purchase from. It doesn't need to be a "big brand" to get decent quality. Have a read of customer reviews on the item where there are some.

Amazon and the supermarkets have some offers now winter has "finished", under £10 for a double blanket, would not bother with the electric throws for the bed, maybe for watching TV. Not sure the brands matter much, they are all made to fail, these days, but you should get five years out of one. You can get a free throw-type from Octopus (if a customer) if on very low income even if not on benefits, maybe even a six month standing charge holiday over autumn/winter, Worth a try.
Personally, think that by winter gas will be back down but Ofgem will be very slow to lower rates so that the energy retailers can get some of the money they have lost back. If you have gas CH, may be worth arranging things so you just heat one or two rooms rather than the whole house, as well.

I have a couple of Silentnight underblankets that are still going strong after a few years. Cost around £30 for a double from Lidl.

I would suggest a heated throw if it's not for the bed. Check the wattage and size of any you consider, as they vary wildly. I got mine from Aldi a few years ago. Apart from Amazon, you could try Home Bargains, The Range, B&M, Argos.

we have a Silentnight double with separate his n her zones. My wife cooks herself almost every night whilst my side has only been used once to check it out. I dont like to be hot so I dont use my side
It's around ten years old. Dunno how much it uses but it keeps SWMBO happy. As they say "a happy wife means a happy life"

If you've got a double bed, buy a king-sized electric blanket. Otherwise it doesn't reach both edges.

We have 2 Dreamcatcher throws/blankets - both bought through Amazon.
Very happy with them and first we bought was for the Ukraine gas spike in 2022 and it's still going strong (fingers crossed I haven't just cursed it!).

Silentnight or Dreamland underblankets on a bed. Dual control on a double bed. Get the correct size for the bed.

Question if I may - those dual control underblankets, do they have two electrical feeds/plugs?
