Any tips to pass an MOT in Newport without issues?

Except you cannot legally drive the car if it's unroadworthy - whether that be back from the test, to the test, or to work the day before yesterday…
Waiting for the tester to point out how your lack of maintenance has rendered your car unroadworthy not only leaves you open to prosecution (or crashing because of the poor condition), but often increases the cost of repair.0 -
Yes this happened to me too. You’re made to feel very unwelcome and will do their best to fail you so you won’t come back.
I’ve had better service from Kwikfit!0 -
Yes - I thought that but didn't want to embellish it.
And also the MOT garage might do the repairs and/or there might be another garage on the site to do work.

Reaoly?
Dam better go & see main dealers MOT tester & become best buddies. " MOT's no advisory's 😶🌫️
Think it's more to do with giving the car a good check round to make sure there are no silly issues.

There are car dealers who advertise no advisories. When you check their cars MOT histories long-standing issues that don't need addressing eg mild corrosion that have been on previous MOTs all disappear.

I understand there is talk of having photographic evidence of the car on the tester’s ramp to stop the so-called drive by MoTs.
Mild corrosion? Just turn up on a wet day 😄0 -
If you watch Chops Garage on youtube he gets advisory free MOTs by sending the car for a pre-MOT check, and either throwing money or time at the car, previous corrosion advisories are easily addressed with a wirebrush and stonechip paint.
However, MOT stations do have to flag a certain number of advisories (and failures) to stay near the middle of the bell curve, so to an extent there needs to be an "understanding", too many advisory free first time passes will flag an anomaly at DVSA and trigger A Visit.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science

Hi everyone, just a quick update – I’ve now completed my MOT and everything went smoothly.
I ended up going with a local MOT centre in Newport that was recommended here, and they were quite professional and didn’t suggest any unnecessary repairs. Really happy with the experience.
Thanks again for all the helpful tips and suggestions. I’ll close this thread now!

Once you've found a good garage it's worth getting to know them and keeping a good relationship with them. You never know when you might need them.
