And it still needs to be allowed to accept HAN connections - I suspect to be configured remotely by Octopus - to do so.

The meter itself is just a meter - the comms - both HAN and WAN - are 100% in the bit that has been replaced.

Are the replacement 4G hubs the same physical size as the old hubs so a simple swap or is there any difference?

Differenr mac addresses and different ip too.

Pretty much. Just a straight swap out, i think it's just plug and go. The guy that came round was a heat pump engineer and said they're all being pulled in to help with the rollout so they don't have to be specific meter experts.

My 3G CU went dumb and was replaced, he had to contact Octopus to get it connected but it was working by the time he left… just had a look, it says 4G but he did not mention that, so future-proofed! Looks the same as the old one and just went straight in. I could read the usage on the Octopus app the next day, which has always been the case.

Another weird thing I've noticed is my electric meter display is now lighting up, seemingly randomly by itself.
