Octopus 4G Smart Meters
Had anyone had their smart meter hub upgraded recently to a 4G version? Got mine done today but noticed after the installer had left that both the HAN and Gas LEDs weren't flashing to indicate they are working and my IHD also wasn't connecting. Do I have to wait until Octopus does something their end or should the HAN be working straight out of the box? The installer didn't really do anything other than swap the hub to test everything was back up and running and communicating.

When you have a new meter installed they say it can take up to a week or so before everything works. I assume they have to start from scratch with a replacement comms unit.

I don't think that's the case.

Upto 14 days according to

Exactly. DCC have to pull their finger, for one thing.

This is not a smart meter installation, they've simply changed out the comms hub.

Had mine done last month. Same thing. IHD was dead for about 2 hours then suddenly came to life. The installer said sometimes it takes a while for the network to register the new hub. Give it overnight. If nothing by morning, they can push a reset remotely.

How are they contacting you to arrange the hub swap outs? Not noticed anyone else mentioning having one done so far.

It's the comms hub that makes it smart. Otherwise it just records usage (well it does do o9ther things but it can't tell you about them).

I had to have mine changed to fix a different issue but the installer was saying they're very busy upgrading them i guess it's probably down to provider and what region you're in as to how quickly it'll get done. You'll eventually get contacted by your supplier to arrange an appointment.

I'm well aware of how it works but the process of swapping out the comms hub is completely different to changing meters, there's so much more things that need to happen and databases that need updating when meters are switched out rather than just the comms which is why they quote a minimum of 14 days post a smart meter installation.
