Kent Reliance - pointless emails & SMS messages

Things like this wind me up too. I block them or use a "rule" to delete them.
Natwest and Virgin money insist on monthly statements for monthly savers, which only ever one transaction per month, for obvious reasons. I have asked them to change to annual, but of course "computer says no."
My feeling is that these types of emails and messages should be optional, not compulsory. That way, everyone is happy.

Then someone would complain their details were not being kept confidential.
(someone else might read your email or text but only you should be able to log in and see what its about)
like dosh37, I appreciate the confirmation from KR that my deposit has been received as it saves me logging in to check.

Halifax emails contain both the last four digits of the account number, and the title of the message, such as "Savings Account Statement and Interest and Fees information"(their bold). I haven't noticed any complains about lack of confidentiality. Doesn't mean there aren't any of course.

Kent Reliance is probably the worst bank after Post Office. They don't send important emails but spam with other nuisance. No opt out possible. Rubbish site frequently under maintenance. Ditch them.

I don't mind deposit notifications. In fact, I would prefer to have them rather than not have them.
If there is a secure message waiting for me online, a notification that it is there is necessary, so I don't have an issue with that.
Where routine monthly statements are concerned, I don't see the need for notification. When you sign up for an account, you agree to the terms and conditions which will include information about the frequency of statements and when to expect them. Customers shouldn't need notification that the statement is available to see online.

It seems you receive one interest email/text if you've chosen pay away or a statement notification if interest is added to the account. With reasonable rates, instant transactions, monthly pay away options, the neg comments don't seem fair.

But they are not revealing any figures from the statement for example, just as they are not revealing the amount of the deposit that you appreciate being informed of. Anybody with unauthorised access to your email already knows that you have an account with that provider or will have applied for one, so they will gain no useful further information.

Each to their own - i have used them for a while - old and new website.
I think the new website is excellent - simple, clear and instant transfers.
They are clear when they are under maintenance.
