Kent Reliance - pointless emails & SMS messages
Is it just me who is getting annoyed by pointless emails and SMS messages from KR?
Just Today:-
Your online statement is available
Duh! Yes - I know. Monthly statements are available every month by definition. You don't need to send me an email me every month to remind me!
On top of that I receive TWO SMS messages from KR (one for each account) telling me the exact same thing.
Who in the KR marketing dept. comes up with these ideas? Don't they have anythng better to do? I may ditch KR and move my cash elsewhere - e.g. Cynergy.
KR interest rates are not that good.

Getting better returns on your money is a very good reason to move your funds elsewhere.
Be grateful that at least your notifications are arriving by email/SMS and not letter. If they really trouble you then set up a rule to trash them before they get to your inbox.
Does, of course, mean you might miss something important unless you can tune that rule precisely.
Bet there are just as many savers with KR who are grateful for the monthly reminders as there are haters.

It protects them from complaints from customers that they've not been provided with their statements or didn't know they were available.
Not so long ago there was a thread in which a customer took a bank to the Ombudsman because they missed some email notifications, which bounced back due to the email account being discontinued and the customer not updating the bank with a new email address.

People don't need THREE reminders that a monthly statement is available.
Equally annoying is when a bank sends an email to tell you that an important secure message is waiting for you.
You then go through the usual long winded login process…
Startup your mobile phone - enter finger print & password.
Run your password manager on the PC - enter password manager password.
Run your browser and navigate to the bank website.
Enter bank user id, memorable information & password.
Go through the 2FA process and enter the one time authentication code.
Eventually you get to the bank secure message page and find a message that tells you nothing of any importance that contains no sensitive information at all.
The system is bonkers!

I started a thread recently complaining about the numerous, quite unnecessary advance warning emails being received from Building Societies about AGM voting packs arriving by email "shortly".
Rather unfairly I thought, the thread was moved to the Rant board.

😂 That made me chuckle, but seems a bit harsh!

The new KR system is much improved over the previous which wasn't instant transaction, interest paid away didn't appear on online statements, maturity options weren't an easy online process, etc. Now there are both texts and emails for receipts, withdrawals, interest paid away, monthly statements, so maybe more than really needed but not too great a problem.

Just went to find that and to be fair, the subject did include the fact that it was a 'gripe' and the post concluded by saying that you found it 'annoying', so, as you accept that it was a complaint rather than a question, etc, I can see why it might have been deemed appropriate to move it to the praise, vent & warnings (not 'rant'!) board, although relatively minor adjustments might have seen it treated more as a point for discussion on this board, presumably the admins' criteria are fairly subjective in such matters…

Newcastle and Manchester BSs send a "we've received your deposit text AND email every time my RS deposit by SO is made. Fine, but I'd like to turn off notifications. I haven't seen a way to.
Being in every BS bar two is a pain at AGM time. At least 4 emails for them.
1. We'll email it soon, look out for the email invite!. 2. Here it is! The AGM details and how to vote. 3. Don't forget to vote. 4. It's not too late to vote, last chance.
At least with postal stuff you only got it once.

Deposit notifications are fine. I don't have a problem with that. It saves having to login to check.

Well there you go, you can't pick and choose.
But I do totally agree that notifications of letters arriving in your inbox should state what they are about.
