Check wheel nuts after 30 miles?

I have had wheel studs snap whilst driving, but the other 4/5 wheel studs still held the wheel in place, no problem.
But then when another wheel stud snapped, I started to worry.

"I mean who uses a torque wrench?"
Me, and I suspect many others.

I don't really use a torque wrench on wheel nuts but I do have a breaker bar and impact socket wrapped in tape to nip them up after the wheel/s have been off. Once you've done enough you get a feel.
This reminds me of a friend who drove their van around to me complaining of some shimmy in the van as it drove. It had been in the for brakes at the dealers the day before and as soon as I clapped eyes on it I could see what they had done.
They'd fitted the wheel nuts the wrong way around!
The dome of all the nuts where sticking outwards instead of in the dished wheel nut seats which are pressed into the wheel. They'd worked so loose I could wind them off by hand.
I've also seen cars fitted with the wrong profile nuts. People just think wheel nuts are wheel nuts but they come with different profiles to fit the wheels. Conical, Spherical and Flat are the main types of wheel nut seats.

You can go to a tyre fitting place an ask them to check them for you.
