Wow, I guess taking uktim29's point further the OP would never want anything ever reduced in price once paid for. I really can't see the problem here at all. If I see that something gets reduced a lot in price (especially in the Jan sales) after I'd already bought it then I kick myself for being unlucky or not making better buying decisions in the first place. This is the first time I've seen someone blame the store for having sales especially at the time that everyone has sales. This vent is truly mindboggling.

I did buy a voucher for someone and apologised for it being impersonal and not very exciting but I remember we did even mention then that at least you get more for your money in the sales by having a voucher. So it's not as if this whole January sale thing should come as a sudden surprise to someone.

I dont understand the vent against Marks ,it is the same everywhere. You go to buy a holiday from a travel agent , get the holiday and then discover a mate says if you went on the net , you could have had the same thing for **** pounds cheaper!!!

Perhaps you should not have looked at the sale prices and then I assume you would have been happy with your gifts , as hopefully the receipents were .
  • would you have gone back in and paid more if they had put the price up?

I can never find things I like in M&S sales. it's like they have imported a load of old tat from some 3rd world charity shop in our local store. Or they have nice things but only in size 8 or 26 so nothing to fit me LOL.

Agree with the others, it is a fact of life. If you buy something before christmas, it's almost guaranteed it will be reduced afterwards. Everyone knows it and it's a risk you take.

You haven't been ripped off. M&S are in business to make money and that is what they are doing.

I do empathise with you as it does sound like they were reduced by a lot, and it must be really frustrating to see it.

or it could be that your size is a popular size so when you get there you cant find anything in your size

and what exactly do u think sales are? mark ups of the items?!

of course it would be significantly cheaper. there wouldve been NO guarantee of u managing to find said items in the sale. i never complain when i see something ive bought reduced... why? coz my size is popular and ALWAYS the first gone. u secured the item and had to pay the standard price. it happens.
  • So if they had put the price up instead of down, you'd be there with your credit card to pay the difference?

No you wouldn't. You haven't been ripped off, if there was any ripping off about to be done - it was you, prepared to defraud them by returning discounted items with a full price receipt.

    Life's too short. Move on.
