Air fuel surcharges

The last A1 aviation fuel arrives tomorrow , it was alleged last night that tankers crossing the Atlantic from the US, who refine a lot of aviation fuel, were turned around mid journey, as it can be sold for more in the US where demand remains very high. Some operators still give a no surcharge guarantee, which they may regret this year, in which case your package holiday will not increase in price. If you decide to book flights and accommodation separately then there is no limit to price rises, but usually only for those yet to book.
If you want to travel this summer, at this point in the season, I would advise to book now as prices will rise by mid summer, but we are dependent on Trump knowing what he is doing and continuing to act rationally, and that is very big assumption. We simply have no idea how long this crisis will continue, it could be over in a few weeks, or it could drag on for ages, in which case all bets are off.
BA confirmed they have about 6 weeks fuel in storage, I suspect few others have similar reserves and have to buy from day to day but in many cases at prices fixed months ago. Smaller airlines cannot afford to do this, Aurigny the airline based in Guernsey has already imposed fuel surcharges, cancelled some flights and combined others to reduce costs. It is known that Easyjet are cancelling flights but always more than 14 days in advance to avoid compensation payments under UK/EU 261

I'm flying with easyjet in 11 days, really hoping it isn't cancelled at this point now

I'm wondering what happens if a flight is cancelled because of fuel shortages caused by war, in terms of alternative travel. Is it possible to get insurance for this at this point?! We have a trip planned, to Bordeaux, that's outward by train and flying back, so we should still be able to get there, it'll just cost a mint to get the train home. 😕

If your flight is cancelled then the EU (or UK) 261 flight delay/cancellation regulations would oblige the airline to get you home at no extra cost.

The trip is more than 14 days away, so if they cancel now, presumably this doesn't apply?

The regulatory obligation to reroute at no extra cost applies regardless of how much notice is given.

Michael O'Leary of RyanAir has now commented on the cost and availability of aviation fuel -
“We don’t expect any disruption to supply until about early May,” he said. “The fuel companies are happy there won’t be any disruption until early May. But if the war continues we do run the risk of supply disruptions in Europe in May and June." - Michael O'Leary

I wonder how long "early May" lasts! (Vested interest on my part.)

Ditto.
We are in Costa del Sol 26/04 to 03/05 - if getting us home is a problem for TUI we'd be "prepared" to stay on in our 4 star adult only hotel 😎 at their expense.
We had a 4 day extended stay in Malta 2010 due to the Icelandic volcanic disruption, same hotel, same board basis until Thomas Cook (as was) arranged to get us back home.
Not so happy if our flight out to Malaga has to be binned though 😟
If TUI are in a bind I suspect they may prefer the latter option,

I wonder how many cheques bounced?
