Eon Drive Fixed V7 to V17 thoughts?

I also have a Vauxhall EV, a Mokka. And I'm with Eon Next on their Next Drive Tariff v12. At presnt I only have a "granny charger" but I have looked into access to smart tariffs. I know that Eon's online compatibility check rejects me on the basis of my car whatever charger i say I have but I have always assumed that that was a mistake in the algorithm. If Eon can "talk" to the charger and the charger can communicate with the car (as they all can) then I can't see that it matters what car you have. Eon say they are seeking "EV driving pioneers" for their smart EV tariff; I have always taken that to mean that they haven't ironed-out all the kinks yet.

This is from the Eon Next website (my bold). Granted it only says Zappi as the supported charger but I think that is out of date.

You can connect to Next Drive Smart in two ways:

Directly via your compatible electric vehicle.

Via a supported smart charger.

The following chargers are supported: Zappi

Connecting through a supported charger means compatibility isn’t dependent on your vehicle manufacturer - giving more customers access to smart charging benefits.

We’ll be adding more supported chargers over time, so check back for updates.

Thanks. I think they're possibly a 9-5 gig so will give them a call when I get a chance.

Don't expect that the vast majority of their customer service agents to have the faintest idea what the answer to your question is. In my experience of Eon Next, true expertise is thin on the ground so you will most likely need to persuade whoever you speak to you to seek advice from an in-house expert and get back to you.

Haha. So true I think. I was actually going to put in my last message that I'd phone in, put on hold for a minute, get standard ' computer says no' response and we'd bid each other farewell!

Since yesterday (1st April) I am paying only 3.99p per kWh for my midnight to 6 AM electricity. But would this price reduction also apply to new fixed-term contracts? If it doesn't, that will upset your calculations on whether to switch or not.

Currently EON Next are offering Drive V20. The V17 ship has sailed.

There is no penalty to leave one of these Drive tariffs, so you can switch again if you find you can do better. But there is a huge disparity between the new rate of 9p per kWh and my reduced rate of 3.99p per kWh. Thank goodness my current tariff does not expire until December.

@johnbhoy70 have Eon moved the times for their night rate? I saw something indicating it was now 1 AM to 7 AM
