I agree, try the IAS appeal using the points mentioned
If you are successful, job done
If you are unsuccessful, you dont owe a penny unless you lost in court ( if it ever got that far. )
Losing at the IAS doesn't mean that you must pay, it just means that a court may decide within the next 6 years
If the court sides with you, you dont pay a penny but claim costs, so they lose twice over
Do not roll over, stick your spines up and make them work for it, or they hurt themselves instead
