I have been looking at getting a water butt for the garden for a while now, but the price (£80 on average for a 210L one) has been rather off putting as I just don't have that much money spare at the moment. Looking around I have considered a second hand ISO tank (too big and no transport to get it here), drums etc. However today I think I have found a solution. We have an old wheely bin we don't use and I found a tutorial online about turning a wheely bin into a water butt. It has a 250L capacity and a tap to fit to the front will cost £2.49- five minutes with the drill and I will have a large water butt for next to nothing. I have some old fence posts I can use to make a frame to lift the bin up enough to get my watering can into place so that just leaves a gutter and down pipe for the shed roof to help fill the butt and I will have a solution for next year in the garden. Its definitely the case that often if you sit on a problem for a while, a solution will present itself rather than just splurging the cash when the idea first strikes you!
