BB and line rental ends in August

I use Plusnet for my Broadband and landline, the contract ends in August 2026.

I understand that there will be no option to use a landline by 2027.

I am ok with that as I use my mobile for calls.

I currently get about 6 mbps for my broadband which is ok for what I use it for.

Using the postcode checker it says I can get full fibre here.

Will I still need a router to plug in?

I am not sure if I should wait until August or change over sooner if there is no penalty.

If you were to upgrade with Plusnet there would almost certainly be no notion of an early termination penalty.

Another supplier MIGHT cover the penalty as an inducement to move to them.

Or wait 'til August.

Yes, full fibre (aka FTTP) still needs a router.

With Full Fibre, you will still have a router, you will also have a small box called an ONT, which also requires power

You won't have a "landline", but it is possible to have digital voice (VoIP) with the same phone number. I believe PlusNet will not provide that, but it should be possible to move the phone number to another provider.

I pay £26:99 a month, it is going up £3 from now on, it does every year.

Plusnet are offering me full fibre for £23:99 which would go up £4 in 2027.

Thank-you, I did not realise there was also a plug in called an ONT.

I currently have one plug for the router and one plug for the BT call minder phone, so it will be the same amount of plugs.

I was not going to keep the phone, just use the Router and ONT.
