Hello.
First of all, my sincere condolences for the loss of your Grandad.
Call the 'bereavement' section of British Gas to inform them about his death. They won't cut off the electricity but the Executor is responsible for paying the bills, that is if your Grandad left a Will and named an Executor or co-Executors. BG will continue to send bills and if they are not paid, they'll inform a solicitors firm who will be in charge of collecting payments. If you/your family decide to use a probate solicitors firm (and if you do make sure to choose a local 'experienced' firm!), BG are well aware that the bills will be paid during the administration of the estate. If instead you/your family decide not to use a solicitor because you might not need one, make sure to pay the bills till it's been decided what to do with the house.

I recommend to look for a Will that your Grandad might have left. Look inside each and every drawer, box, bag and various possible places where he could have left a written Will. Here is the link to the National Will Register
Do NOT assume that your Grandad did not leave a Will, till you're 100% sure without a shadow of a doubt! I sincerely hope that he DID leave a Will, otherwise your Grandad's estate will be shared according to 'rules of intestacy'. You/Your family need to have a very clear idea, not approximate, about the value of the all estate.
All the best!

You need to sort that as a priority, as he's deceased he's no longer in the property and so the insurance probably became invalid a month after his death - so a burglary, flood or fire wouldn't be covered.
Visiting once a month is unlikely to be enough, one of my colleagues had to visit the property a couple of times a week in similar circumstances.

As you wish, but people are trying to explain that you're concentrating on one of the least important things.

How are the BG services being paid for?
Your grandfather's bank accounts should be frozen now as you should have informed the bank of his death... You have done that?

which things ?
How and by who ?
As above, you (or someone else) may have much more important things to get done
