Virgin Media connection
I live an area that's never been a traditional VM cable area, I'm not aware of anyone having underground VM cable to their homes, yet VM are saying that their full fibre broadband is available. How do they achieve this, will they use the Openreach network or will I require a separate cable and ONT installing?

VM are investing in their own full fibre network, so you will need a cable to the home and a termination point.
I am currently on VM underground coax but their contractor installed new full fibre cabinets in our area recently but nobody has been transferred to full fibre yet.0 -
Last year an Alt fibre company here used the BT Open Reach trunking and poles to provide full fibre to our houses.
I read several other Alt. companies have done mergers and takeovers, with names like Netomanic, BRSK. City Cable and YouCable to end up owned by the same company as owns VM.
So I guess you might be getting offered VM through an Alt. network such as I've mentioned.

Virgin can be had over an Alt Net called Nexfibre , but in reality its all the same group of companies, Nexfibre is a joint venture owned in part by the same people who own Virgin , the only companies on Nexfibre are Virgin and GifGaf (also intimately tied to the same group of companies ),they recon they will be a wholesale outfit like Openreach and City Fibre and have many ISP’s on their network , but when that actually happens is anyone’s guess.
Nexfibre do use PIA to leech onto Openreach ducts and poles etc , so it’s entirely possible to get Virgin from Nexfibre using Openreach physical infrastructure, this isn’t Openreach fibres , just Openreach ducts , poles and joint boxes are used to house Nexfibre’s network cables , same as what most other Alt Nets do , so anyone with Openreach FTTP ordering Virgin over Nexfibre would get new Nexfibre/VM equipment in their house , they don’t use the existing Openreach ONT etc .
