Broadband Contract Question
HI my Broadband with BT ends June 2027. I'm currently in the process of selling the house but have not found anywhere to move to. I know temporarily i will have to move in with my mum; she already has broadband. Can i hang onto my own broadband until i move to my own home? I've tried to contact BT today but couldn't get through to chat. Any advice would be appreciated.

When our initial contract period ends, and assumin you don't take anither deal, BT will move you onto their rolling contract.
This is likely to be more expensive than you're currently paying. BT should tell you what the cost is once you get closer to the end of your deal.
Edit to add: I think I have answered the wrong question. I read it as "my contract ends before we complete, can I keep service" but on second reading it's more likely "we're completing before my contract ends, do I really have to pay early termination charges".

No, you cannot leave your contract running in a premises that you have sold as that will preclude the new owner ordering broadband if their choice uses the same infrastructure.
However, if the new owner ordered VM then the BT connection could remain but you'd have to remove your router.1 -
Unless you're actually transferring your BT broadband to your moms house then I would have thought BT would class it as ending your contract early and charge accordingly for early termination.
But what if you had a second phone line installed at your moms house - this page suggests £30 which does seem cheap. As your mom already has a phone line, this may not be an option so you'd need to check.
We generally don't charge any fees when you’re moving home. However, there are a few cases where there may be a charge:
- If you have a landline only package and there is no BT line in your new home, there's a connection fee of £70 to get your new line installed and set up
- If you have a copper broadband package and there is no BT line in your new home, there's a connection fee of £30 to get your new line installed and set up
However, if you take out a new broadband contract with us during the home move process, you won’t be charged any connection fees.

If you want telephone service at your new address, a new 12-month contract term will always apply for the telephone line. Any un-used portion of Line Rental Saver that you paid at your old address, and any remaining contract term on a telephone calling plan, will both carry over to your new address.
You'd then need to find out if you can move on after that if you dont stay at your moms for the 12 month minium line rental. After all that it may be cheaper to just cancel your current contract with early fees once you know all the costs.

As stated unless you get a second line into your mothers address (and that is fraught with risk as potentially your mother line may be taken over instead of getting a second line installed ) , so realistically you are probably going to have to accept the early termination charges at your current address for quitting early , however although this maybe not in keeping with the money saving ethos of this site , I dare say in comparison to the rest of your moving costs , it won’t amount to much .
Even if you just moved out , leaving the existing service live (but taking the router with you ) letting the contract run down with you continuing to pay monthly (even though you couldn’t use it ) should the new occupants order service from a provider over Openreach , your service would eventually be replaced by theirs anyway , so you still get ETC but your actions would result in a delay for the new occupants obtaining service .
