Painting pebbledash before moving?
Hi, I have read a few threads and not sure I can get a concise answer. My Wife and I are looking to move within 6 months. Our house is a 2 bed terrace in SE London and is pebbledashed. Some houses have been rendered and some painted and some have got pebbledash like ours.
I was looking at painting the rear of the house in a nice neutral colour that works. My main issue is that through various times in its life the house has had different patches of pebbledash put in and as such don’t really match, which is why to give a bit of “curb appeal” I was looking at painting.
Any ideas?

a fresh paint job always makes me wonder what's underneath.

if it’s been patched up a few times, then it’s likely the pebble dash might be loose.
I would have it sprayed rather than applying by brushes
But as said above some folks might that your trying to hide cracks etc

those are the two answers I’ve seen so far :) I was going to get a HVLP sprayer to do it if I did but not super sure still

Whatever you decide, if you're looking to move within the 6 months you need to crack on… conveyancing takes forever - I've been involved with 2 house sales and a purchase in the last year and the conveyancing took 4-6 months in each case
Our neighbours, who are selling (top of a short chain) have been waiting 8 months thus far

Pedantry alert - it is 'Kerb Appeal' you are looking for.

There's a house in our street which was put up for sale on 28/5/25. It's has a sold board up for about 7 months now. Must be top of the chain as it's a probate sale, but it's dragging on and on. Not a good advert for Yopa.

If I were you I'd wait to ask the agents the question when you show them round the house to get valuations. They'll know more about how quickly or not your house is likely to go and hopefully will tell you what would be the best help for your house.
Meanwhile save like it's going out of fashion because there's always something that costs more than you bargained for and if you've got the money it's just annoying, if you haven't got it then it's a PITA and you have to scramble round and sort it under time pressure.

Personally, I would leave it. Chances are you will put off as many buyers as you would attract if you chose the wrong colour. Why waste the money. I hate pebble dash. I also hate painted houses. I hate stone cladding. We sold our last house with stone cladding on, we did think of doing something with it, but decided to let the buyer do what they wanted when it was their house.
A 2 bed terraced house is more of a starter property, so you'll appeal more if the price is right for a first time buyer type.
