Pension credit and living together
I know that, for universal credit purposes, if a couple make a joint claim and one moves out for six months or more they must make a single persons claim.
does that also apply for pension credit?

Not sure if the six month rule applies for pension credit, but if one member of a couple moves out (e.g, into permanent residential care), then they can claim separately as a single person for pension credit as no longer living together as a couple.
What are the circumstances of the separation?

Just for completeness, the general rule for pension credit is that a temporary absence of up to 52 weeks can be ignored. In some exceptional cases, even slightly longer absences can be ignored.
