My contract with BT expires on the 7th May
Currently paying £30.99 including £3 rental for digital voice. I would like to switch either to Vodaphone or Sky and keep my phone. Virgin is also competitive but not keen if they have to dig to install. Can anybody advise pl?

Contract for what? Tv, phone, broadband? A combination? What channels/speed/deals do you currently have, and what is a must have for your new service?
Only you can tell if VM is available - check your address on their website.

I have Vodafone on a part fibre service. Used MSE to get a quote and my number was transferred to their digital voice service. After just over a year in to a 2 yr contract they offered me a new contract that was lower than the first. Only had one problem when their whole UK network crashed for an afternoon.

What kind of advice do you need ? , the BT price you have is a typically price for BT , certainly not outrageous, can Sky and VF be cheaper , usually they can , so if price is the most important thing , switch ….Virgin don’t use Openreach , so if you don’t have Virgin already (even an old disconnected service ) clearly they will need to do work to get service into your address , how much of that is needed can’t be predicted here without knowing much more about your location, you are best placed to establish that , by going into their website and putting your address in .
FWIW , Sky and Vodafone use Openreach and City Fibre , so they won’t necessarily just take over your BT service over Openreach if City Fibre are available in your area , they may want to install CF infrastructure to give you their service , again you are best placed to discover that when you put your address into the Sky or Vodafone websites .
Switching over Openreach typically is around 10 days , so around 10 days before your minimum term expires call whoever you are to use ( if they are to use Openreach ) , if Virgin or City Fibre networks need to be installed it may take longer depending on what’s needed , that info may not be known until you actually order service , so you may be paying out of contract prices with BT for however long it does take to get that network installed .

If you use your own router (or a separate ATA) you can get digital voice from a supplier different from the one who provides broadband if you want, and it could suit you better. With an ISP's own router you are probably stuck with their VoIP.

I have Vodafone fibre broadband. My phone plugs into the back of the router. There's no charge for the phone line, but I haven't paid for any phone calls package. It's cheaper to use the mobile for outgoing calls.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Thank you will go with Vodafone. I have a second cordless phone in the bedroom and I use a bt adaptor, was told will not be able to use it. I use 18185 for my calls or might get a goody bag for £6 with giffgaff. The landline is more for convenience, will be very seldom use. Thanks

Is your first phone also cordless? If so, you can probably pair the second handset to the first one and then you won't need the BT adaptor.

I have a pair of cordless phones. The base station is plugged into the Vodafone router and works fine.
I had a problem with the installation instructions. They show an adapter needed to connect a standard BT phone plug to the router, but I didn't get one. I contacted their helpline. The solution was to use the supplied VDSL cable, which does fit the router, and replaced the BT type cable fitted to my phone base station.

I found Vodafone chat excellent, if bot cannot help, agent comes on immediately.
Sadly having had first order attempt tracked via TCB Broadband compare, cancelled order due to £15 higher voucher subsequently on offer, second and third order attempts failed to track despite TCB removing tracked transaction after order attempt 2, will now try Sky Fibre 150 which i have worked out will cost me less than £10 per month after incentives based on me cancelling in 12 months time when Sky announce 2027 price increase.
