Starting 6th April the new rules are to qualify (called PIW) you need one day of sickness during which no work is done and SSP is paid from the first qualifying day (usually first day normally work)
Payment for that one day would be at the weekly rate whichever applied.

thank you. That will make a huge difference. I’m never off but it means if I need to be off for a few weeks again I can afford to rather than struggle on.
