Samsung TV - No 5 Year Warranty?
I bought a new Samsung TV at weekend
Went online to register the warranty, and spotted free 5 year extended warranties being offered on my model number - but only to those purchased at Samsung.com or numerous independent retailers?! https://www.samsung.com/uk/fiveyearwarranty/
So because mine was bought at Argos my application was refused.
I had a long online chat today only to be told, basically if I wanted an extended warranty, then I need to BUY Argos Care from my retailer (cheapest is £79.99 for TWO years).
Surely the manufacturer can not provide free 5 year warranties on the exact same model TVs for some customers & not others, dependent upon where they bought them from ?

They can offer (or not) warranties to whoever they want based on whatever criteria they like.

Lots of people think JL are expensive for buying TV's but when you include the standard 5 year warranty that is not always the case.

Ditto Richer Sounds

Yes they can, and it's fairly common. They dont have to offer you any warranty at all if they dont want to, in the UK your rights are with the seller not the manufacturer.
Did Argos claim it came with a 5 year warranty? If not and you just made the assumption it would then unfortunately thats on you. Manufacturers offer retailers the ability to buy it with or without the warranty, obviously get it cheaper if they opt not to have it. JL and Richer Sounds opt not to but then give their own warranty instead but seems like Argos chooses not to and tries to sell you their own. Hopefully your reasons for choosing Argos still stand up to the lack of warranty.

Looking at that list of retailers it seems to exclude most if not all of the more competitive (on price) major outlets. Argos is by no means the only exclusion. Never encountered this before, but it's always worth double checking any extended warranty offers.

Last 16 years or so I've bought my new TVs from either JL or Richer Sounds.
Because I buy sets due to be replaced by newest year's model ,I've found that I can get the cheapest deals with the advantage of the free extended 5 or 6 year warranties.

My Samsung TV bought from Richer Sounds came with a free 5 year warranty.

My Richer Sounds TV (LG) was repaired FOC under their 5 year warranty. Still going strong after 9? years.
