Airtime app - changing networks
Hi folks,
I'm currently using the Airtime app with O2, but I'm eyeing up a switch to either Spusu or Mozillion (or maybe 1p Mobile) which would give me more data and hopefully reduce my monthly bill. Does anyone know if these networks are supported by the app?
If not, is it possible to cash in your remaining rewards, or would I need to redeem them before switching? At the moment I have £1.56 available and £44.90 pending (mostly thanks to bookings at Hotels.com), which is equivalent to 3-4 months off my current bill. But I won't be able to use that until around July or August at the earliest.
Or am I best sitting tight for now and looking at things again later in the year?

You wont be able to use there. Ive moved to Lebara and had the same issue.
I had a tenner to use and in the end I changed the number to that of my wife who is still on EE and she had the credit instead.

Can only redeem to a "Big 4" or Giffgaff account. There is an Airtime Up add-on that reduces the redemption lag but it's not clear (to me) if that works for existing or just new rewards. Needs Open Banking access to a bank account (no idea why, mine's pointing to a very quiet account).
You can "gift" your reward to another Airtime member rather than to your own phone account. Family/friend that you could "gift" to (for a consideration?) after you have already switched away from O2?

Thanks both. I think I'll hang fire for now and see how it goes, unless data usage becomes a problem I think it's probably worth holding out for some of those rewards.

Airtime Rewards is the proper name.
Airtime UP scans your the attached bank account(s) for transactions rather than waiting for them to be reported.
UP also has bigger rewards at different times and more retailers.
Not all retailers work with UP and they default to the normal redemption periods. eg Argos

Yup, quoted for agreement.
I was on Ignite for about 5 minutes before it turned into Airtime UP, which was nice.
It's fine though - Boots works with UP on mine, and a meal deal plus something else per visit soon stacks up.
In response to the OP's question about supported networks - nope, the three mentioned providers likely aren't supported. Mine gives me the options of the big 4 on pay monthly, the big 4 plus giffgaff and Lebara on pay as you go. YMMV, going by an earlier poster, so to check what's available for you open the app, go to More then My Network - it'll show you the options open to you (just don't select a different network while you're there).
