Laser Printer sub £50 with free cartridge

Options
Canon Laserjet £49.99 plus use the link below to get an additional cartridge worth £60

PC World are doing in store a Canon LBP2900i BW laser printer. It is only available in store at £49.99 but you can reserve on the website. We got one of these which had a sticker on saying there was a free cartridge we could send for (in addition to the one supplied) worth £60 but the other boxes didn't have this and no mention is made online or in-store. Going to the Canon website the offer is on there, if you buy after 27th December for the next couple of months you can print out a form

http://www.canon.co.uk/Images/2724_Free Toner Claim form LBP2900i_tcm14-486765.pdf

and it is simply a matter of sending the form off with the receipt and getting a free toner worth £10 more than the printer itself.

The printer has also been reduced to about half price and works great - no warm up time!

I suspect this is old stock and the printers with the stickers will suspercede these probably back up to £100

Looks Ok to me - but check it out first.

  • i dont need a laser printer as i already have one.

But i gotta say this is a real belter of a deal, id have snapped it ip in no time had i have needed one. for B&W printing nothing beats a laser, and my replacement toner goes on and on and on.

get this (escpecially if you are buying for home) and i reckon you wont be needing another toner again for a long long time!

all three stores closest to me have one - so it isnt a 'phantom' product either

    Is this the unit?

Toner will last a long time so keeping the extra cartridge is a good idea, just keep it dry and not too hot / cold. Excellent deal.

Yeild per cartridge is a bit low at 2000 pages.

Yes that's the link, originally in Kidderminster it was £59.99 with a free cartridge in store (plus you could get another by writing in) They couldn't deliver this so it was cut to £49.99 still a great deal. They were in the business section. The link shows it is available countrywide.

    Thanks

Do you actually need to buy the cable which it automatically adds to your basket when you add the printer (for an extra £9.99), or does the printer come with a cable in the box anyway and the extra one is un-necessary?

Like all the printers I have bought it does not have a USB cable which you probably have on your old printer anyway. Don't pay £9.99 Poundland sell them (guess how much???) The printer does come with mains leads (UK and Europe).

The cable they are trying to charge you £9.99 for is a USB A to B cable. Delete it from the basket, and if you haven't already got one, get it from Poundland!

Doh! You beat me to it zeroamp!

    This is a good deal.
But if you can afford it, the canon LBP5000 is also covered by the free toner promotion.
    see http://www.canon.co.uk/tonerpromotion/
It costs 3 times as much, but you get 4 times as many toner cartridges ( 8 instead of 2 ) and it's a colour printer.
What is good about both printers is that they come with standard cartridges, not the smaller capacity starter ones that many low cost printers include.
At around £150 you are getting a colour printer plus two sets of cartridges for less than the cost of one set of cartridges. However when the colour cartidges are used up, I think that I would be looking for another similar deal and buy a new printer rather than fork out £120 minimum to replace the 3 colour cartridges.

Bump for anyone looking for the Amazon £39 HP laser thread of today, that disappeared whilst I was writing a reply to it.

Presumably removed to somewhere unknown, cos the price was increased to £59, (a fave Amazon trick ( and Ebuyer do it ), after testing the water with a specially low start price, to test/establish demand, once the feeding starts up goes the price)

THIS is a better deal all round, than the HP one, still 4 on display in my local PCW

Just bought the Canon LBP2900i 'lasershot' printer from PC world (£49.99).
It is a great mono printer, and the promotion for the toner is great as they can be up to £49 each. If you do buy, ask for a duplicate receipt at the time of purchase, as you are required to send an original not a copy for the free toner. This is a good deal if you do not need to colour print. Your old USB lead will do, and it does support Windows Vista as I have installed mine easily.
    Keep saving!
