Capita Data Breach/Barings

It affected a lot of other groups too. The questions raised in this thread don't relate to pensions, which is why moving it to a more appropriate board is likely to get more helpful answers.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
There's only over 450 pension providers impacted

I'd suggest it isn't a consumer rights issue either - it's a rather niche legal question about NWNF/conditional fee/contingency fee/damages based agreements and the process involved when a claim is transferred from one firm of solicitors to another
If posters haven't done so already I suggest someone starts a thread on Legal beagles (General Legal Issues - LegalBeagles Forum) or even Consumer Action Group (General Legal Issues - National Consumer Service)

…and how helpful are the answers you're getting on the pensions board…?

Were you all happy to sign this part ?
"I instruct Abbleys Solicitors on my behalf to draft a Subject Access Request in order to obtain any information that it deems appropriate and to submit it to the proposed Defendant's Data Controller"
I'm not happy that a third party can request all personal data about me - surely the only person who can request my data is me (police notwithstanding).
What data are they going to request and would Capita/Google/Microsoft agree to this and what will they do with all my data?!

Normally yes, which is why your solicitors would need your written authority in order to do it on your behalf. It's pretty commonplace.

They'll request the data which might be relevant to your claim. The whole point of data protection legislation is that the data controllers must provide your data (other than certain exemptions).
what will they do with all my data
They'll fish out whatever is relevant to your claim.

Have seen this review for Abbleys pop up online:
I instructed another law firm to act jointly with other data breach claimants. After a while I was told the lawyer representing had moved to this firm. I have tried and tried to speak to a human being, called and emailed. The telephone is always busy and cuts you off. No opportunity to leave a number or request a call back. I have emailed and no-one EVER replies. You get bombarded with emails to sign their contract. NOW I get an email which again is impersonal with no one individual named saying if I don't instruct them I will be at risk of having to pay costs which could be thousands. Absolutely diabolical. Avoid at all costs. You cannot get any engagement other than being bombarded with insisting you sign their contract. Why would you when their service so far is horrendous.
The response from Abbleys was:
"I am sorry to hear that you have had trouble trying to contact our team regarding your data breach transfer.
Due to the number of claimants that have transferred their case, our phone lines and emails are extremely busy. However, I have requested that a member of the team reaches out to you as soon as possible to explain the contents of the email sent to you and to explore your options if you do not wish for your claim to continue."
Anyone else not signed and received an email about paying costs, I haven't yet.
This review was left 2 weeks ago.

To those who have had your Data Breach claim against Capita by Barings Law now transferred to Abbleys Solicitors, after signing the new representation agreement.
Has anyone had any updates as no official hearing/court date has been set?
Seems to be moving backwards or is it just me?
