So possibly a slightly higher/better level of 3rd party cover on the pet insurance policy then?

I'd argue simply different as there were other exclusions that you wouldnt see on Home insurance like if you have taken your pet to work (as a show and tell type thing not as a working animal) or if your animal harms livestock

The only things not covered will be specified in your policybook normally they will be:

• Using the vehicle for a purpose not covered (eg commuting with only SP&D cover)
• Racing
• Driving under the influence
• A deliberate act of the driver (ie intentionally ramming something) unless the vehicle is stolen
• War
• Use on an airfield
• Radiation
• If you are using automated driving and you have applied unauthorised mods to the AI

Most accidents are caused by a policyholder doing stupid things and insurers dont normally try and define a level of stupidity they are willing to accept. Have settled a case of someone doing 120mph but they were in a BMW not a Audi and have settled claims from more than 15 people for an elderly driver who twice got mixed up on the peddles in a car park, for the second incident he pled guilty for driving offence.

If a significant injury has been caused we may even choose to provide defence on any criminal charges if we feel it could influence the liability on the injury claim. If you are bang to rights then we won't incur more costs defending the indefensible
