EE 4G WIFI Mini Hub EE72E and alternatives.

Hi.

Any thoughts on these, and alternatives?

I know they work, and seem reasonable value - you can buy the unit 2nd-hand for around £25, and data costs ain't bad. But, what are the alternatives? Any better?

And, does it need to be an EE SIM in the EE device, or will any SIM with data work?

Only if the hub is unlocked - sometimes they are, sometimes not…

It would make sense that EE would tie it to EE SIMs and data.

It's not bad value. Are there credible alternatives?

If the Hub is EE - Then you may be able to use a SIM such as LYCA or SPUSU which uses the same EE network but is MUCH cheaper …

Or get the hub unlocked (google…)

Three mifi usually unlock.

They are £15 at CEX (£2.95 delivery). You could return to highstreet shop straight away if it is not working.

I have an unlocked 4GEE router that I bought used from Amazon late last year. Possibly even from that listing (I'd have to check).

It works fine with a ScanCom Three data SIM.
