Exactly. GDPR doesn't help if the law says they have to keep everything for 6 years.
Then it is a matter of what is kept and where it is kept.
If the company collect loads of extra data then it will all be kept for 6 years. And if it is kept in a centralised online service then that is mega attractive for hackers.

Its fine if the solicitor keps a digital copy. I think the chances of an individual solicitor being targeted by hackers is much lower than a centralised online service.
My feeling is that parking a copy of these docs in the solicitors 'my docuemnts' folder is less vulnerable than having them in a 'secure' online service.
