SKY TV Underhand tactics
Hi
I'll try to cut this short. I called sky to cancel TNT sports which I'd switched on to watch the Australian open and my upgrade to Netflix no adds as we wanted to load up devices for travelling. I was offered 24 months free sky sports. I don't actually watch much sports except tennis so I said what have I got to lose? Ok. I then checked my account and the sky signature package contract end date had changed to 2028! This wasn't explained to me - I googled it and that's what they do. I immediately contacted sky but they said they couldn't change it. I had the cooling off period option but they wouldn't change it. This was through the messenger service. The said I had to phone. I did that they guy said he would cancel it but would take 7-10 days. They have cancelled the sky sports but my contract date still stays the same. Another guy I spoke to sent me a text to say that I would not be charged any termination charges but couldn't change my contract date. I then sent a recorded delivery letter to sky which I have not had a reply to. Today is 14 days since they received the letter so I now need to get a deadlock letter (fat chance!) to send to the ombudsman.
I then got a mail to say the prices had gone up on the broadband and TV and I could cancel if not happy with this. I immediately rang to cancel. They said they couldn't do it unless they reinstated the TNT sports which I would then be charged for 31 days! It has until 12th March to run out so I said - OK I will phone on the 13th - I don't want any negotiation I want to cancel. Fed up with all these phone calls to SKY and them not doing what they should be according to consumer law! Anyone else had these problems?
