Bought a new build house - Not as specification
Bought a new build house from Taylor Wimpey.
The spec says an aerial cable is provided in the living room and bedroom, there will be aerial cable in the loft and it is our responsibility to get an aerial fitted—- no problem.
There are aerial sockets in both rooms but no aerial cable.
i have checked with TW their customer service manager informs me they dont fit aerial cables anymore.
i have checked our contract and it is mentioned in 3 places that an aerial cable WILL be fitted,(attached)
also the sales person and the person who showed us around confirmed that an aerial cable will be fitted.
just wondering what my next steps are!!
BREACH OF CONTRACT? compensation!!!
insist a cable is fitted? Lots of mess chasing walls etc
Advice please thanks

Does that spec actually form part of the exchanged contract?

I would not get them to install the cables due to the mess, just stream all your TV via your broadband service. Push for a bit of compo though.

Do you actually need an aerial cable? Done away with ours years ago. One less cable to worry about.

I would get a quote to install the cables and make good any damage to walls, etc.
Present the quote to them and ask them to either agree to pay or do the work themselves. We had the same with CAT5 cable installed when CAT6a was promised; they know it costs them a fraction to do it themselves than to pay you to have it done.
Be interesting to see how it pans out.

We still have an Ariel connection to 3 of our 4 TVs ( The small one in the kitchen is not Smart anyway), but for the fourth one, the ariel socket snapped off inside, so can only watch it via streaming. I actually find it significantly less convenient, as for example if you want to switch from BBC 1 to ITV 1, there are at least half a dozen separate steps, as you have to come out of I Player and into ITVX, wait for it to load etc.
Plus there is no EPG.
Maybe I am missing something and not doing it the most efficient way ?

There are aerial sockets in both rooms but no aerial cable.
Have you taken the sockets off the wall to see what is behind them? If they have installed the socket without any cable then I'd be asking them why they did that, as on the face of things it might appear to be an attempt to mislead you.
If there is a cable attached to the socket then you should ask where that goes, if not to the loft.

As a new build it may not have such a service from day one. A friend had to wait 4 months for BT to provide a service on a new build and he was also in a mobile coverage dead spot, so that wasn't an option.

The wording isn't clear there; does the contract indicate that they are providing a loop of cable in the loft that's attached to an external aerial, or are does it indicate that they are providing a loop of cable in the loft that's attached to the bedroom? I assume with the socket in the bedroom it's the latter?
What do you actually have?It seems crazy that they'd fit a socket with nothing behind it.

It seems clear there is no aerial provided, so the only reasonable interpretation is that the cable is going to the loft from the sockets.

I'm sure you will have checked but it hasn't just been buried under the loft insulation? As Section62 said start by checking the back of the sockets and don't rely on the word of the site manager, they will tell you anything to get out of sorting issues in my experience.
