Emerging markets are up 35% in the last year. Up to you whether you consider the flat last three months a 'downtrend'.

@aroominyork it was only down a bit for a few days 😂. I was noting that to think a bit further about whether to buy World Index or still divide the portfolio to regions.

I think the answer to that question is easy or impossible depending on your outlook. Either you're confident you can, long term, better a world cap weighted index by picking the right (to be proved later) regions now or not.
If I recall from a previous exchange you're not keeping meticulous performance records but experimenting with trading.

@kempiejon yes I have been experimenting buying and selling for knowleldge and emotions. I only feel I have experienced the process, but not knowing better though!
World index is still not diversified enough, I feel, but there's a level of adjustment over time that I do not have to conduct myself.
Am back to mostly-cash position at the moment. Having crystalised to gain about 10% of the total pot after 6 months whilst only using a part of the pot to invest at a time.0 -
World index is still not diversified enough
Then I think Elon Musk is your man.

From a quick check, if you'd been invested in the S&P 500 over the last 6 months, you'd be up over 13%

@kempiejon am still holding Tesla and watching SpaceX, but still don't think I'd go into company shares for the long run.
@Middle_of_the_Road true- but my starting point was the concern everything would go down so yes SP500 has gone up by 13% but equally it could have gone down even much more substantially. Within SP500 the movement (up or down) of each big players has been strong but they take turn and overall the index is still pushing up. I still feel the correction is still ahead and I can be wrong - but going back to cash strong position is still my choice for now.

You won't be - corrections are always ahead but of course nobody knows when they'll arrive!

But this isn't any old correction the OP is foretelling; it is the correction.

I called it last year! Global meltdown! People setting fire to houses to keep warm! End of days!
