Active line switch from Sky to Virgin
I'm in the process of switching my broadband provider from Sky to Virgin. When completing the online order with Virgin they gave me the option of them telling my current provider (Sky)about the switch. In terms of accurate billing as Virgin run a seperate connection to the Openreach network how will Sky know when my service with them has switched?

If you've taken that option then you should've received an email from Sky almost immediately saying they have received the request.
If you are porting a phone number do make sure your VM order is for broadband and phone.
I moved from TalkTalk to VM, got that email straight away, VM's contractor did the outside cabling, a technician did the internal installation a few days later and the TT line was disconnected 3 days later, billing with TT finished on changeover day not when the line as stopped.
VM did all the notifications, I had no contact from TT apart from an email with an offer to stay.
If you have TV services from Sky, they are a different contract from broadband and if you wish to leave you must be out of contract and give notice, with TV you are obliged to finish your minimum term if still in contract, many get caught out.0 -
I switched from Sky to VM myself 18 months back, the OTS service worked flawlessly for me. Won't be long before I try the same thing in reverse :)
