Tesco Bank Credit Card asking for more information

FOS is very customer friendly, they list "mistakes" over fraud
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just tell them that you arent interested, dont need to explain why
Your credit file will never directly show what the outcome of a credit application was, all people will see is if an application was made or not and if a new account appears or not. Some may make an assumption that an application followed by no new account appearing could have been a decline but they will be making an incorrect assumption in a reasonable proportion of cases given people do receive an offer of credit but reject it because they are offered better terms elsewhere, the reason for needing credit goes away and/or it was a short term thing and the credit is cancelled (eg getting perks on a PCP deal for a new car and then immediately paying it off)

It’s quite normal for banks like Tesco to ask for more information after an application. Even if they’ve done a credit check, they sometimes need extra documents like payslips or bank statements to verify income and affordability before approving the card. If you’re not comfortable sharing those details, you can just leave the application or cancel it. It usually won’t have a big impact other than the initial credit check showing on your file.

Same here.
I applied for a pre-approved Virgin BT card and was referred. Still waiting to hear an outcome but not keeping hope high.
Did they ask for further information before making a final decision? Was there a hard credit search?
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I applied for a Nationwide Credit Card and was referred. They asked for pay slips and eventually approved the application.

They did not ask for more information, just manual review and declined after a week. There will always be a hard search for a credit card application. I didn't need the card, was just a want as they had a decent BT offer at the time, I got one a little while later with HSBC iirc.
