Sky broadband increase - maybe switch to Vodafone?
So…now I'm out of contract Sky want to increase my monthly payment from £30 to £59. Hmmm, don't think so.
Email gave number to ring to cancel and give 10 days notice, so I did, to see what they offer. I'm on Sky Broadband Ultrafast Plus and best they could do was their Full Fibre 500 at £36; this is basically the same product, just rebranded. 🙄Alternatively I could go Full Fibre 900 for £46 but what would I really gain? I've seen other posts here where speeds don't increase and posters suggest your PC may not be able to use faster speeds anyway. 🤷♂️
Sky agent tried to sell me their new product. Me: "Isn't it the same?" Agent: "It's same speed but gets it to you faster!". They are really struggling to sell it to me. 😂
Think I will check out Vodafone Full Fibre 500 at £28.50/month (plus other savings). Is there anything I should be aware of with Vodafone?

Forgot to mention, I made sure to say "this is notification of my cancellation as I have to give 10 days notice" (or words to that affect) and the agent pretty much pooh-poohed it and said they would be notified when I switch. If I don't get round to switching today, then I think I will tell Vodafone (or whoever) that I have given them notification on this day. You never know, it might make it quicker.

If your PC is hardwired to the router then you'll 100% notice the difference if downloading large files/games etc. Whether you need that or not is another matter. If using WiFi, possibly not.
I would run a country mile from Vodafone, I've tried twice to get their service and both times they messed up badly enough for me to cancel, leaving me once without BB for 4 weeks. They're a terrible company with no decent support at all.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have to carefully consider it and look again at the others. They have an OK-ish score; if I'm feeling brave enough I might try them and see if I'm one of the lucky ones…

OTOH I'm with Vodafone for a second time. An active choice. They've been no worse than any other mainstream broadband supplier for me.
(One day I might feel flush enough to sign up with someone like A&A so I can see what boutique ISPs can offer me, but not today!)

Andrews and Arnold, quite the opposite of a bargain-basement ISP.

Less than £28.50 a month plus maybe other options.

Been with Vodafone twice and in process of switching to them again. Over the years I’ve used O2 / Plusnet / John Lewis / Sky / Now / TalkTalk / Shell / Vodafone and never had any problems as it’s all through the same copper wires now full fibre. Only reason i keep changing end of contract is the big Quidco cash back plus Amazon vouchers always on offer
