Shocking electricity standing charge, but unit rates are good. So suits higher users.

Also, despite what MSE may say, Eon Fixed tariffs require you to have a smart meter within 90 days (if you don't already have one). [Edit: not applicable if Eon can't fit you one for technical reasons.]

I think this is only for smart meter tariffs though, not all fixed tariffs? "11.1.2. If it is a condition of the tariff you chose withus and you are eligible, you agree to the installation of Smart Meter(s)."

I chose the EON 15-month fixed deal (today, currently with OutFox) because the MSE Cheap Energy Club did not indicate that I needed a Smart Meter.

Are EON going to force me to have a Smart Meter on a tariff that specifically did not mention the requirement for one?

Are you within the 49 days when you can exit Outfox without penalty?

I'm the same. I'll miss the Sunday Saver but worked out that after £20 cashback and exit fees, I'll only be about £45 worse off a year as it's quite similar to my current fix. I consider it worth it for peace of mind and if prices/fixes go up significantly, it will definitely be worth it.

    hiya,

I have just switched to Eon next fixed 15m v7 from Edf simply fixed direct jul26v2. Have I done the right thing? My daughter usually helps me as I’m 71 and find all the different tariffs complicated, but thought I’d try to do it by myself. Any advice would be much appreciated as I believe I can cancel free of charge within 14 days

this tariff is working out after higher SC is the same as my current deal which was took out last aug when the rates were at the cheapest so imo i cant see the prices going below what is on offer, but thats just me

ive took the deal and now know i'm covered if any increase for 15 months

looking online your current price is more or less what your new tariff is, someone has to sit down and do some number crunching with your usage, and also you dont have a exit fee which is a saving

also your current deal runs out on 1st aug this year, so if you remain in your new deal knowing your covered for 15 months, just remember your new deal is tying you into a contract with a £100 exit fee if you leave before 49 days of it expires
