We are currently booked with Destination2 who are not covered by ABTA for a package holiday to The Maldives transiting through Dubai. We are not due to fly out until July but just worried that some people who have had their holidays cancelled by Destination2 are only being offered credit notes and not refunds for their cancelled holidays. Where do we stand if our holiday is cancelled due to the Middle East Conflict continuing into July.

I wouldn’t be concerned about ABTA membership. A Destination2 package holiday will still be covered under the Package Travel Regulations.

Where have you heard that they are only offering credit notes? If a tour operator cancels the holiday you have the right to rebooking an alternative or a refund.

July is a long way off. The situation in the Middle East is changing frequently. Calling them or worrying about a trip in July is unnecessary.

‘IF’ the holiday gets cancelled then you get a refund if you want it. Typical within 14 days.

the problem occurs when the flights are running but you decide the risk (of transiting the Middle East) is too great and don’t wish to travel, or at least re-route away from the riskier areas.
