just wonder if there is any compensation as no food or drink was offered on the long mini bus journey home and I didn't get to bed until 6am

That must have been a nightmare if you were working that day. Only thing I would wonder is how many people would normally be eating meals between 11pm and 6am so it might be something where food wasn't really considered to be necessary. Certainly at many airports there are very limited food places available at those times anyway. Compensation for the delay is another matter.

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I don't believe that the regulatory right to care provisions actually apply to delays en route anyway, as they're only invoked by a significant delay to departure.

Having experienced a flight cancellation nightmare with EasyJet in the summer of 2024 ……….

Reasonable expenses for subsistence are permitted under the 261 legislation - assuming EasyJet are responsible for the delay - and I'm not sure it that's the case here.

Of course you have to keep itemised receipts.

Otherwise it's a travel insurance claim.

Actually, passengers are entitled to "care" — or failing the provision of food, reasonable costs of food and other necessities — no matter what the reason for the delay. It is compensation that is only due if the airline are broadly responsible for the delay.

Greggs will have been open at Manchester T2 arrivals level. As will M&S Simply Food.

And yes, if I was starving I would have simply nipped in and got something myself rather than relying on anyone else and if I could have claimed it back later its merely a bonus, ive paid a few thousand for a holiday so a tenner on some sausage rolls, a sandwich and a drink isnt going to be any issue.

Are they accessible from the arrivals side? I think they are all after the departures security checks.

That is the situation at T3

As I said, they are on the arrivals level of T2. Landside.

    So yes.

Source: me. Last week, on a late arrival back in.
