Missed connection with SAS

I booked directly with SAS to fly from Manchester to Bergen. There was no direct flight so we had to fly to Oslo with a connection to Bergen. The flight to Oslo was delayed just short of 3 hours but meant we had missed the connection. SAS put us on a bus to a nearby hotel and we stayed overnight in Oslo, catching the connection the following morning. In all we arrived at our final destination 20 hours later than scheduled. Can we claim for this? The pilot confirmed that the delay was caused by staffing issues earlier in the day.

If the booking was on a single ticket reference (as opposed to a self-transfer between unlinked flights) then compensation would be payable if the 'staffing issues' related to the airline's staff, as opposed to, say, air traffic control or airport security.
