Hi Folks

My contract finished a few months ago.

However, I have no idea of where to find the best deals.

I do want to keep my number but want to change handset. I am with EE at the moment.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Your contract didn't end, you just reached the minimum term. I tend to use Uswitch to point be in the right direction.

Are you happy to buy the handset outright and use a sim only contract or do you need pay for the handset on monthly payment finance?
Do you know which handset you want?

MSE has info that might help https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/mobiles/

Do you want a new phone or a refurbished one? (I haven't bought a new phone in a long time, refurbs have been fine)

If you can afford it, it might be better to keep your current phone or buy a new phone outright and then get a SIM only deal. Check coverage in your area and/or ask friends/neighbours what their reception is like. If you want a SIM only deal I would recommend GiffGaff where you can get a SIM only deal from £6 pcm

I wouldn't opt for a "phone + SIM" deal. The networks/shops love these as they give them the most profit and guess who pays for that?

As others have said, buy a phone and look for a SIM only deal. I personally would avoid anything longer than 30 days rolling, ie basically a SIM without a contract.

If you are happy with EE, then look at 1p Mobile (uses EE network) and offers exactly the same data speeds, coverage, and includes EU roaming + Channel Is and I of Man. Cost is £10 per 30 days for 50 GB, or less if you don't need that much data.
