I take a photo of the meter read and always confirm it's m3

The graphs won't copy to this post but they are what I consider normal, If I added up each days usage in kWh I could convert that to m3 and would definitely be more than 6m3

I wasn't asking about the usage data (the graphs etc.), but the actual readings. My supplier provides a list of every daily reading since I first got a smart meter 10 years ago, and all the manual ones before that. I don't know whether Octopus do the same, but since you see half-hourly usage data, I'd expect you should also be able to see the daily readings. It's the only way to see whether the meter's communicating properly between bills. These are mine today:

[I do battle regularly to try and persuade them to show the precise values (i.e. to 3 decimal places), but so far unsuccessfully.]

I can't speak for the OP but my Octopus account only shows one gas meter index reading per month, on my billing date.

Exactly the same on mine but it shows 190 and not the 228 I updated them with, time will tell and it should sort itself out

I've never seen any supplier show meter readings like that. Who is your supplier @Ildhund if you don't mind me asking?

OVO. Their account site is exemplary in most respects, apart from a silly tendency in some areas to favour form over function.

This absolutely underlines the value of someone continuing to take manual readings on a regular basis even when they are on a smart meter, AND checking the readings used by the supplier too.

Mike - do you take your own reading directly from the meter itself, or via the IHD? whichever you usually use, can you do a double check using the other method and see if it matches?

I do take my own monthly readings from the meters not the IHD. I also keep a spreadsheet to ensure my bill from Octopus matches my calculations. I have been doing this for the last 5 years so I have a very good idea what I should be using.

I checked the meter again this morning and it read 229m3 1 more than yesterday so that is what I expect, what happened before when it read 190 I have no idea. Octopus have 190 on my monthly read because I gave it to them, thats not yet changed to 228 that I also gave them.

It will get sorted when it gets sorted

I think Octopus has lost the plot

They sent me a bill with the old reading (190) so I called them out on it

They then said they have corrected the bill to the new reading (228)

They haven't so I called them out again, I can't remember Octopus being this bad
