If there is a noted medical reason to take longer showers or to use more water in general then this should be logged with the water company who will reduce the charges to those standard for your household.

Similar bill here.
You could view an unmetered bill as an insurance against having to pay to fix a leak that happened to be on your side of the meter.
The idea that the meter isn't smart and is under the pavement (they fitted it of their own volition when the then neighbour decided to get a meter in the 2000s) really puts us off of changing. With that set up, water could be leaking for 6 months at our expense before we knew about it. And presumably as they have fitted a meter, we would have to pay for it to be moved inside so that we could keep an eye on it even though we had no say where the meter went. Is there any way to get a supplier to fit a smart meter, as they will for the other utilities?

They seem to be fitting them under the road here too & by under I mean further than 2metres down. My mother's was in her kitchen which I would be much happier with.

We've been using an EcoCamel water saving shower head for around 10 years.
It reduces the flow down to around 5 litres a minute but because it entrains air into the flow it still feels like you are getting a decent shower.
We pinched it from our caravan and its similar to the water saving shower heads that we've seen on cruise ships.
