dca - more delays

First of all , its my first post on the forum so excuse if my topic is being repeated here and thanks for letting me join . Just dug out my letter confirming i had been charged this DCA from Blackhorse finance , my letter was dated June 2024.

i keep getting a generic email now from them each month , each time the same , nothing further to add we will contact you again in 28 days blah blah blah , repeat repeat repeat.

i rang them the other day , they are now saying after may 2026 before any further confirmation.

Just wonder are we ever going to get this compensation , just goes on and on , even after they have admitted they charged the DCA , i know we have to wait but this is getting ridiculous

can anyone add further , thanks

  • Apologies that this isn't a help to you (however my qu is very similar, with a different finance provider), so I wanted to comment and then hopefully we get the same help.

I am owed DCA from VW finance and their email said that they would respond within 8 weeks of the 4th Dec (this being accetable within the commission guidelines). I've heard nothing and chased it up by email and heard nothing again.

Is the next step the FCA? I am happy to chase up however (as with original post) I could do with some constructive advice/ want to use my time wisely.

    Thank you

The courts are still arguing on it (the FCA just recently talked about removing manufacturer finance from the scope) and everything is on pause until 31/5/26

Do note that having DCA does not mean you are in line for anything, not all of it was negative and they still haven't decided what to pay yet if anything

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    You are not owed anything

The FCA have been consulting on this for a while, the pause ends on 31/5/26 (unless it gets changed).

There is no next step and consumers cannot refer individual complaints to the FCA

Wait until the FCA makes an announcement on the scheme rules in March and this should then go live in June

It is not at all ridiculous. The court cases had to play out and the FCA has set a timetable that has to follow a defined process.

BTW, having DCA doesn't mean you were charged. There was positive DCA, neutral DCA and negative DCA. Being told DCA may have applied doesn't mean you necessarily paid more. People on zero per cent interest were often on DCA as the commission was reduced on a discretionary basis to improve the terms.

No. You have missed that chance. The final deadline for responses to the FCA closed on 12th December 2025. The final rules following that are expected in March.

I expect them to keep moving the goalposts on this, to avoid paying out. Same thing happening with my diesel emissions claim.

That is not how these things work. You need to roll back on the paranoia. They are actually acting quite quickly following the court cases.
