Porting a VoIP phone number

I have FTTH from Hyperoptic and also have my phone number from them, which is of course a VoIP number.

I would like to port my number away from Hyperoptic to Andrews & Arnold, because they are cheap and now satisfy my needs better than Hyperoptic. Hyperoptic have confirmed that there would be no termination fees applied provided I keep my broadband with them.

So I started the porting process. But after I had set up all the details and thought the process was going well, I got told that the port could not be made as there is no porting agreement between Hyperoptic and Magrathea (who are A&A porting partner). Hyperoptic tell me that their partner is Gamma.

I reckon it should be possible to port from Hyperoptic to a third-party and then from the third-party to A&A. Obviously I can just keep asking everyone (Hyperoptic, A&A, third-party) if the relevant porting agreements exist.

But I am wondering if there is a more efficient way. Can I find out who the porting partner is of a firm, and what porting agreements exist? Or does anyone have a better idea?

I suppose one thing that would be useful is people who have ported VoIP number from Hyperoptic letting me know who they went to and also those who ported VoIP numbers to A&A telling me who they ported from.

I've used Voipfone in the past, they say they can port from anyone even if there isnt an active porting agreement in place.

Thanks. That's one piece of useful information. They say they should be able to port from Hyperoptic. Unfortunately they did not tell me their partner (though I asked),and they themselves are not on A&A's list of providers

After a lot of difficulty that should not have happened, it looks as though the port is going ahead.
