Hi ATB
Great minds think alike - Ive done the batch cooking thing today too - its so much less temptation to pop to the takeaway when your meal is already prepared. That and the thought of saving the money should help.
Congrats on the £450 - amazing what you can do, isnt it?Sealed Pot no 20110 -
I too thought of doing batch cooking today.......
but my freezer seems to be full of 1/2 loaves of bread & garlic bread slices- bread pudding anyone
ATB - you'e on an organisational roll at the mo, well done :jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi guys!
Gallygirl - I have two drawers in my freezer full of half used loaves, garlic breads and other random bits (frozen rasperries and quiche anyone?!). My goal for the next couple of weeks is to try and use all of the 'random' bits up so I have room for more HM meals.
It just occurred to me that we should be getting our annual statement in the next couple of weeks. I *think* we will currently owe in the region of £98,000, meaning we have paid of £6,500 since we took out the mortgage 18 months ago. We are up for remortgage next July - my ultimate aim would be to be at £80k for the re-mortgage - I will assess how doable this is once the statement is received.

Forgot to mention I have 4 tubs of Clover - want to swap for the raspberries :rotfl:
Good luck on forthcoming statement :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi everyone, well I couldn't resist, I called and got a balance from C&G today. I was right, it is just over £98,000, which is great news. I am going to check this when I get home to ensure that it tallies up with the previous balance I obtained a while ago (i.e. ensure my OPs are going where they are meant to!).
The dream would be to be at £80k when we re-mortgage next June, and though I think that is a high goal I am going to get as flippin' near as I can.
Wish me luck folks! xMFW

Good evening everyone
I hope you are all having restful Sundays.
Well, I have taken a look at the accounts for this month, and have cancelled both the current car insurance policy and the random insurance that was lurking in our account, so I can cross two jobs off my list for the month. Unfortunately, the change jar isn't as full as I thought, so I will keep adding to it and make an OP when it looks healthier.
Ebay is going well, so I will be able to clear the CC no problem. I think that next month is going to be a bit tight, as we have the car tax due and various other unavoidable expenses. I was hoping to make a £250 extra OP, but that may have to wait. Also, I will increase the standard OP to £450 from 1 March - there isn't much room for it in February. I have been reading the live of £4,000 a year thread on the DFW board and I am in awe - if I could manage that the OPs would be very healthy indeed!
We do essentially live quite a frugal life for our age, the one main expenditure being our lovely car which OH is crazy about. I just get so excited about the prospect of owning this house, and being able to rejoice about the amount of interest that we have saved, that I feel we should be trying harder to overpay more sometimes. I know that I am being too hard on myself, and that what we have achieved already is fab.
Sorry guys, little 'sunday night blues' random ramblings overx
