Thanks for your lovely comments everyone!

I just called First Direct re. the account that they offer you £100 to open, and they are sending me an application form in the post. In addition, their e-ISA that connects to the current account offers 7% AER for one year, and they accept transfers in, therefore I can move my existing ISA money over there (hopefully!).

Right then, I'm going home early for some fizz in the sun  xx

    Good Afternoon everyone,

Well the initial excitement has now died down & after consuming (alot:o) of yummy food and delicious wine this weekend it's time to get the budgets in order.

Here is where we stand at the minute:

    - OP just increased from £100 to £400 per month to take effect from 1 August. This will be the OP for August and September.

    - New wage takes effect from September pay, and therefore OP will be increased to *around* £700 per month from 1 October.

    - I will continue to pay £500 into my savings per month until I reach £10k (this is the recommended buffer amount in terms of monthly pay), and re-assess in December.

Yay, go me, I have a plan!

Also...I got my First Direct form in the post so that will be going off this week for a free £100 for meeee. :D
Oh, and we're booking a holiday this weekend :D.
And the sun is shining :D.

But I still haven't put anything on ebay :o:o:o:o

    Bye for now, ATB xx

ETA: I have just called C&G and our balance as at today's date is £96,063.64. The 64p is annoying me (as is the £63 :o)

    Guess what?!

I've listed two items on ebay!! :j Go me! I have a third item to list too but I'm watching another similar item to see what that goes for first. And I sent my First Direct application form off today, so hopefully I will be accepted and get a free £100.

    Evening guys :hello:

Sorry for being a bit quiet of late - not too much to report on the old MFW front. OPs of £400 are in place for August and September, pending my pay increase which takes effect from my September wage. That means come 15 September I will be sitting down with a large glass of vino  and figuring out how much I can put onto the mortgage, hoping it will be circa an extra £350 to make the OP £750.

I would like to get our balance down to £90k prior to starting the MFiT challenge on 12 December, which I think is pretty achievable. To start 2010 in the 80s would be wonderful! But alongside all of this, I need to think about my personal savings. I have around £3.5k at the minute, and I would really like to beef that up to £10k sooner rather than later.

For the minute though I am being relaxed - this month's wage has been the first in months when I've said "sod it, I'm not going to worry about money and make myself save XYZ amount this month", and I've felt the better for it. Yes, I've bought a few more M&S lunches than I should :o:silenced:, and yes, I treated myself in the M&S sale, but I have still OP'd the mortgage by £150 so there. I'm allowed :o:p;)

Going to bed now, another 12 hour day beckons x
