WiFi Calling and 4G Calling (VoLTE)

Why do Lebara push WiFi Calling and 4G Calling (VoLTE) if you do not bother with it?

I imagine with "4G Calling (VoLTE)" you might be running down your data, but what do they get from WiFi calling?

A friend of mine set her phone to Wifi calling only to find it was incompatible with the County Court equivalent of conference calls, it cost her the case and she had to seek a directions hearing to get it back on track.

I have declined to these up and phone worked fine without them, but Lebara was in nag mode on emailing me to get it done.

You don't use your data allowance when using 4G calling. If you don't use 4G calling then the fallback will be 2G - rarely as good as 4G for call quality.

Wi-fi calling is useful in that it allows calls to be made when no mobile signal is being received. Setting a mobile to "Wi-fi calling only" is rarely a good idea, the usual setting is to prioritise Wi-fi calling or Mobile calling according to whichever usually gives the best call quality.

If you are fortunate enough to live in an area with good 4g signal indoors as well as outside, then wifi calling isn't necessary HOWEVER despite all the telcos claims of "90%+ coverage" there are still large areas of the UK where mobiles are useless if dependent on cell tower coverage !

I live in one of those useless locations and have to rely on WiFi Calling at home. All networks!

Thanks for explaining that, I had a look and 4g was on with Volte ticked, so do not know why Leb keep sending mails about it.

I would not use wifi calling, I do not know why the Court could not connect but it seems to me that anyone who uses the same type of phone system might fail. Not that I get many calls!

I agree, the 90% BS is annoying.

Funny thing is for first week or so I had all bars, now I am getting just 2 or 3
