    Hi all,

Thanks for everyones replies. I got some glyphosate weed killer and put it down last Thursday when it was the warmest day of the year so far but we haven't seen any change in the weeds yet. Is this normal for this weed killer?

    It’s normal for glyphosate, yes.

Glyphosate kills the whole weed, roots and all but it will take longer for you to see the effects. The weeds will yellow and contort over a few days to two weeks, then dry up and disappear. The glyphosate will then break down in the soil.

The fast acting weedkillers like pelargonic acid work by literally burning the weed tops (they break down the cell walls). They look as though they’re doing a better job but they won’t touch the roots of weeds like dandelions which will soon be back.

Glyphosate needs to dry on the leaves before any rain so you did the right thing applying on a dry day. A couple of hours of dry weather is usually plenty.

At this time of year, when plants are not growing actively, I'd expect it to take perhaps even longer than 2 weeks to show a proper result. As long as the leaves were dry, and remained dry (apart from the glyphosate) for 6 hours after application, then it will work - just have faith

Correct! I recall that the instructions / directions state that the glyphosate will be most affective when the plant is actively growing, if not growing then it's less affective ie will take longer to see any affect.
